What's wrong with Vikings offense?
Kurt Warner analysis.
I haven't watched the video yet, but let me take a stab at your question: They aren't scoring much.
Great video.
There's really only 2 reasons for the misses.
Kyler lacks the ability to make the throw.
Kyler didn't study and prepare.
Here's JJ's press conference from last Wed
.JJ spells out what Warner just explained.
Preparation..
The plays are there.
I don't think Murray's doing the work.
Don't trade JJ.

So a leopard doesn't change its spots then? I see.....I was told that was a wrong narrative on the little fella. 🤷♂️ Some guys get 100 games and still excuses are made and others only get 10 and are shipped out of town.
Prepare for the discrediting of Kurt Warner in 2....1....

Let’s see if you can connect a couple dots.
Murray is playing the worst football of his career.
McCarthy, albeit for an extremely small sample size, is playing his best.
Where’s the commonality?

I had to stop watching about three-quarters of the way through because that was brutal to relive.
The good news is the Lions' secondary is bad, and Jefferson seems to be open most of the time. Hockenson needs to stay on his feet, but he's also getting open on post routes where the ball needs to lead him and give him a chance at some big chunk plays or even touchdowns.
I do like that Kirk is pointing out the signs of Kyler not being on the same page with his receivers, checking with rushers, adjusting routes, and recognizing what's happening pre-snap. Kyler looks like a rookie QB getting his first NFL action coming off a season-ending injury... oh, wait.
But yeah, he's our future at the moment. Buckle up and enjoy the ride!
Seriously, if Kyler is truly being asked to operate within a pure progression offense, I see one of two issues, and possibly both:
KOC needs to take the reins off and let Kyler play to his strengths. Let him use his mobility, extend plays, and create off-script rather than trying to turn him into a traditional pocket passer.
Kyler simply isn't processing the offense well enough. If he's still struggling with the concepts, progressions, timing, and communication with his receivers after all the film, practice, and game reps, then that's a much bigger concern than simply needing more time to learn the system.
Either way, something has to give. We're talking about a veteran QB with years of NFL experience, not a rookie learning how to play the position. At some point, we need to see some improvement, because what we're watching right now isn't sustainable.

I totally agree. Have said as much several times.

Kurt's analysis seems to be as much an indictment on KOC's field progression offense as it is on Murray's shortcomings. He had the same bias when he evaluated JJ last year. He may have a point.
Murray did well in an air raid offense which is much simpler with far fewer plays than KOC's offense. KOC could simplify things for Murray, and maybe he has, but with Murrays reluctance to run it's hard to make it work. Defenses know he is only going to run when he has to and the Vikings run game isn't potent enough to have to stack the box against it.
I don't know how he can miss so many throws when he isn't pressured. He doesn't seem to have the poise you would expect from a veteran QB. He doesn't have command of the offense.
I guess I don’t really understand how much a pure progression offense is supposed to help a guy that can’t read the defense. It feels like if you can read the defense, you don’t really need pure progression, and if you can’t read the defense, aren’t you just waiting for a guy to already be open and then are late throwing the ball? Isn’t part of anticipating a guy being open, just knowing where the defense won’t be in a little bit?

The way I had always seen it was if your QB was a doofus, it essentially told him exactly where to look. You don't have to know if the corner was in Cover 2, or if the defense was in quarters or whatever. It's essentially like playing Madden. Click the X button to switch to the next receiver. The one caveat for this is that it would be easier to change progression at the LOS and it's "supposed" to allow a quicker decision by the QB. I kind of tend to agree with Warner's assessment. It can make it awful hard to get to any backside reads quickly. It's probably why 90% of us are sitting yelling at our TV yelling "THROW IT DINGLEBERRY" while he stands back there and pats the FB for 4 seconds. I suspect with some of the other comments, Kyler might be taking the easy prep route and not assessing the progressions quick enough in preparations. It does require some defensive awareness, and honestly, you have to be able to see the short routes and check downs, which I also suspect Kyler can't do either.

Stop being a condescending ass to people. I am sorry, but is it always necessary? I don't mind actual football conversation with you because you understand it.

Quid pro quo.
At least I have the stones to go at him directly.
