Wife of Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy shot at Virginia home, per report

Mia Bieniemy, the wife of Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, was shot on Sunday night at their home in Ashburn, Virginia, per ESPN.

The Chiefs released a statement, saying they are "aware of the incident involving Eric Bieniemy's family." ESPN reports that Eric was with the Chiefs in St. Joseph, Missouri, earlier on Sunday for training camp. 

Loudoun County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Leah Pau said that police arrived at a home at 7:32 p.m. ET on Sunday. Authorities confirmed that a person was being treated for "serious injuries," but would not disclose that person's identity.

Eric Bieniemy’s son, Elijah, is charged in shooting of Bieniemy’s wife

More details are emerging in connection with the news that the wife of Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy was shot in their Virginia home.

The Loudon County, Virginia, sheriff’s office has announced that Bieniemy’s son, Elijah, was “arrested and charged with Malicious Wounding, Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony, and Discharge of a Firearm Inside of a Dwelling.”

Mia Biemieny was shot multiple times, and she suffered “serious injuries.”

Elijah Bieniemy is being held without bond. The investigation, per the sheriff’s office, is ongoing.
